Loading Bay Operative

Salary £28,000 per year.

Seasons Textiles, part of The Classic Prop Hire Group, lead the industry in providing curtains, soft furnishings, and antique textiles to the film and TV industry.

We are looking for someone practical, hands-on, and organised to join us as an Operative in our Loading Bay team.

You would work closely with the Loading Bay Team Leader to effectively manage and execute the day-to-day running of the stock dispatch and return process.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare and pack orders for dispatch within tight time frames 
  • Methodically keep a photographic record of all stock prior to dispatch and record any damages during return
  • Unpack, check and return orders back into stock 
  • Effectively report damaged stock, and return all stock onto the internal computer system 
  • Liaise with customers regarding all damaged, lost or late stock
  • Ensure both the loading bay and broader warehouse are kept clean and tidy 
  • Assist Classic Prop Hire, Classic Modern & Number Eight teams with additional ad-hoc tasks when necessary 
  • Maintain statutory and company standards of hygiene and health & safety across the warehouse and report any issues as necessary

Workshop Manager

The Classic Prop Hire Company is a major prop hire group who are leading suppliers of props, set dressing and textiles to the film & TV industry.

Currently based in Southall, Greater London, we are looking for a versatile and talented Workshop Manager with excellent carpentry skills, to lead our in-house workshop as we prepare for an exciting relocation to South Hertfordshire (within zone 6)

Workshop Manager Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair our vast stock of antique and modern furniture and accessories
  • Lead and manage the workshop team, supervising all work to ensure best practices in safety and quality
  • Oversee health and safety practices, including maintaining data sheets on all materials used in the workshop
  • Conduct and oversee all workshop-related risk assessments and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations
  • Provide training and guidance to the workshop team
  • Work with the Loss & Damage Coordinator to calculate repair costs for clients
  • Manage a workshop budget for all materials and keep accurate records of expenditure

Essential Requirements for Workshop Manager

  • Excellent woodworking skills and experience with a broad range of construction techniques
  • Considerable experience in set and scenic construction or a similar industry
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven ability to effectively lead and motivate, while also encouraging autonomy within the team
  • Demonstrate independent working and the ability to drive a project to completion
  • Good decision-making and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances under pressure  
  • Display strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities

Desirable Requirements

  • Knowledge of upholstery
  • Diploma in electrical installation
  • Experience in prop-making

Number Eight is part of a major prop hire group who are leading suppliers of props, set dressing and textiles to the film & TV industry.

We are looking for a Junior Customer Coordinator to come and join our friendly team. In this role you would have the shared responsibility of welcoming our customers and coordinating all stock hires with them. In addition, you would oversee the smooth running of our Classic Set Dec Shop which supplies essential set decorating consumables to the film industry.

Hospitality is at the centre of our business; we believe creative people in our industry need looking after and an important part of your role would be to make tea & coffee and offer breakfast and lunch to our customers.

You would also be required to assist in the preparation and administration of orders and returns as needed.

Key responsibilities

  • Giving a warm welcome to customers and establish and build strong relationships with them.
  • Coordinating customer stock hires and shop sales
  • Assisting with the stock control of the Classic Set Dec Shop
  • Offering hospitality to all customers
  • Keeping Number Eight displays and the showroom well presented
  • Liaising with our finance team regarding invoices and payments
